MTN launches first 5G network at 100 sites in South Africa

MTN South Africa has officially launched its 5G network, a first for its 21 operations across Africa and the Middle East. The 5G network covers areas of Johannesburg and Cape Town, as well as Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth.

Tigo Tanzania overhauls top-up service

Tigo Tanzania has revamped the electronic recharge service whereby customers can buy airtime and packages from Tigo shops and retail partners. The new Tigo Rusha service will be offered by Tigo shops, Tigo Pesa Wakalas, freelancers and point of sale agents all over the country. It will complement other airtime top-up channels, Tigo said. Tigo said Rusha is risk-free, in contrast to scratch cards, for which a customer has to ensure the safety of the airtime voucher. Electronic reload service removes the need to carry scratch airtime vouchers any time one decides to top up. Every Tigo customer that buys a package through Tigo Rusha is guaranteed an instant bonus, the operator said..

Vodacom Tanzania expands international money transfers to 200 countries

Vodacom Tanzania's M-Pesa has announced the expansion of its International Money Transfer service portfolio. Vodacom customers will now be able to transfer and receive funds from people in more than 200 countries worldwide, it was announced at an international day of family remittances in Dar es Salaam, where stakeholders deliberated on the future of remittances after Covid-19.
